Lillian Schumacher Receives Don and Chris Bickle Philanthropy Award

Lillian Schumacher is the posthumous recipient of the 2024 Don and Chris Bickle Philanthropy Award. Schumacher generously supported area health care, education, and religious charities throughout her life. In addition, an estate gift to the HaysMed Foundation established Lillian’s Fund which will enhance the health of our region for years to come. The award was accepted by Schumacher’s nephew, Kraig Gross. He shared, “Lillian’s generosity followed her parents’ focus for those in need, including the medical community. We were grateful that Lillian left a portion of her estate to Hays Medical Center. It was an honor to accept the award on behalf of her family.”

The Don and Chris Bickle Philanthropy Award is bestowed annually by the HaysMed Foundation. This award recognizes a benefactor that has demonstrated leadership through investment in the programs and people at HaysMed. It is fitting that the award serves both to honor its inductees as well as to inspire the proliferation of passionate support. Past award winners are: Don and Chris Bickle in 2019, the Hadley Foundation in 2020, The Schmidt Foundation in 2022, and the Dane G. Hansen Foundation in 2023.
