Dane G. Hansen Foundation Receives Don and Chris Bickle Philanthropy Award

The Dane G. Hansen Foundation, a champion at the leading edge of innovation and advocacy at HaysMed, is the 2023 recipient of the prestigious Don and Chris Bickle Philanthropy Award. Established in 1965 with a generous estate gift from Dane G. Hansen, the charitable foundation that bears his name has a mission to improve the quality of life for the residents and the communities in the 26 counties that make up the northwest quarter of Kansas.

“All told the Dane G. Hansen Foundation has invested more than $2.4 million in the last decade alone for the programs that invest in the health of our patients and the people who care for them,” shared Jeff Brull, Executive Director of the HaysMed Foundation. “The Hansen Foundation has supported technology and equipment needs through funding assistance for state-of-the-art Cath Labs, a CT scanner, and the DaVinci Xi Robotic Surgical Platform. The Hansen Foundation underwrote the Clinical Simulation Labs used jointly by both Fort Hays State University and HaysMed Associates, and, most recently, made a significant investment in the childcare center that we will be opening later this year.”

The Don and Chris Bickle Philanthropy Award is bestowed annually by the HaysMed Foundation. This award recognizes a benefactor that has demonstrated leadership through investment in the programs and people at HaysMed. It is fitting that the award serves both to honor its inductees as well as to inspire the proliferation of passionate support. Past award winners are: Don and Chris Bickle in 2019, The Hadley Foundation in 2020, and The Schmidt Fovundation in 2022.
